I bought QMI engine flush and treatment for my 1996 model BMW 520i km 141000. After the treatment the engine started to use a lot of oil, had to fill after about half a liter of oil after fifty miles of driving. Then I turned to you for guidance. Your suggestion was that I should try driving for a while longer to see if the consumption decreased. Your theory was that the stuck piston rings had loosened and needed some time and driving to regain their original elasticity. I drove about 150 miles with light driving, without the consumption decreasing significantly.
Then I decided that I would try to drive a long trip so that the engine could work under operating temperature for a longer time. I covered about 120 miles on this trip. This obviously caused the piston rings to “set” again, because I did not have to top up oil on this trip. Today the engine doesn’t use any oil at all, and fuel consumption has gone down drastically. I measured the consumption on the long trip at about 0.64 liters of fuel per mile. This is very good considering that this is a car that weighs almost one and a half tons!

Mein Sohn hat wie ich einen Rav4, Baujahr 2007, mit einem 2,2-Liter-Dieselmotor. Er hatte seit etwa drei Jahren Motorgeräusche, daher wollte Toyota keine Abgasuntersuchung durchführen, weil sie Angst vor einem Motorschaden hatten. Wir mussten sie zwingen, das Auto von der EU zulassen zu lassen. In der Zwischenzeit hatten wir eine ordentliche Dosis Kraftstoffverbesserer im Tank, und das Geräusch wurde besser. Da der Wagen diesen Sommer aber nach Italien fährt, wollten wir versuchen, das Geräusch loszuwerden. Toyota schlug etwa 40.000 für den Austausch der Einspritzdüsen vor, aber ich dachte, die könnten es nicht sein, da der Wagen die Abgasuntersuchung bestanden hatte. Anschließend führten wir eine Motorwäsche durch, gefolgt von einem Öl- und Filterwechsel, obwohl der Ölwechsel schon vor etwa 2.000 km stattgefunden hatte. Wir füllten den Wagen mit QMI-Motorenpflege, bevor wir ihn etwa 65 km auf der E18 fuhren. Das Geräusch, das drei Jahre lang da war, war nun verschwunden! Ich gehe davon aus, dass ein oder mehrere Hydrostößel das Geräusch verursacht haben. Aus Erfahrung weiß ich, dass sich das Problem mit einer Motorinnenwäsche beheben lässt. Dann kann man davon ausgehen, dass die Italien-Tour ohne weitere Probleme verlaufen wird.
